The paper `Axial modes for relativistic stars' was published in Mon. Not. R. Astron. Soc. 268, 1015-1018 (1994). In this paper there is a systematic numerical error in the numerical calculation which changes the quantitative behaviour of the imaginary part of the axial mode frequencies, but the qualitative picture is exactly the same. The origin of the error can be traced back to the original paper by Chandrasekhar & Ferrari (1991), mainly in their equation (19) which has various misprints. The correct versions of Tables 1 and 2 are reproduced here.
