Optical V and I, and a selection of near-infrared J and H observations are presented for the open cluster NGC 2141. The colour excess E(B-V) has been determined as 0.35+/-0.07 mag, based on the positions of several giants and clump stars in a (V-I, J-H) diagram. The distance modulus (m-M)_V is found to be 14.16+/-0.16 (4.2+/-0.4 kpc), based on a comparison between the magnitudes of the red giant clump stars in NGC 2141 and M67. The age is estimated to be 2.5 Gyr, from a comparison of the colour-magnitude diagram with convective overshooting isochrones for a metallicity of Z=0.006.
