Data from the big extensive airshower arrays strongly suggest that the bulk of the cosmic rays above 10 to the 19th eV are of extragalactic origin. Here, various postulates are made as to the origin of these extragalactic particles, and the possible consequences for cosmic-ray observations at lower energies are examined. Conditioned by the prospect of precise measurements using new extensive air shower arrays, the Gamma Ray Observatory (GRO) and the Space Station, the possibilities for the detection of gamma-rays of cosmological origin below 10 to the 10th eV, diffuse extragalactic gamma-rays near 10 to the 14th eV and above 10 to the 19th eV of noncosmological origin, and antimatter below 10 to the 10th eV are examined.
