Solar acoustic waves with frequencies greater than the well-known acoustic cutoff frequency nu(c) of about 5.3 mHz can be trapped to form discrete eigenfrequency spectra owing to the significant reflection at the chromosphere-corona transition region. The frequency interval Delta nu(p) at a given l between adjacent eigenfrequencies above nu(c) is estimated to be systematically smaller than that below nu(c) by about 5-30/micro-Hz. We provide observational evidence to confirm this expected change of Delta nu(p) across nu(c), in the range 4-17 micro-Hz for l in the range 50 - 150. We identify the observed regularly spaced power peaks at frequencies higher than nu(c) as standing acoustic oscillations trapped by the transition region.
