A critical analysis was made of the gamma-ray data within + or -40 deg of the galactic center in an attempt to estimate the distribution of cosmic rays (1 to 10 GeV) between the earth and the galactic center. It was concluded that the cosmic rays are probably distributed in a manner similar to that of supernovae and pulsars but the uncertainties are as yet very great.
