Scientific paper
Compelling scientific reasons are presented for a Center for Astrophysics Research in Antarctica. Attention is given to long-range plans for Antarctic geospace plasma research using automated geophysical observatories, long-duration ballooning, and new international manned stations, as well as to the Bartol Science and Technology Center concept. The conduct of geospace science would not only involve all of Antarctica, but also geomagnetically conjugate locations in the Northern Hemisphere.
