Seventy observations of binary stars by means of speckle interferometry with a 4-m telescope are presented. The measured separations range from 0.037 to 1.877 arcsec. These limits represent the smallest and largest angular separations yet measured by the technique. Newly resolved systems include 12 Per, 51 Tau, Eta Ori A, 19 Leo, Eta Vir, Theta Vir, and 17 Cep A. Considerable care has been taken to achieve an accurate calibration for separation and position angle, and comparison with published orbits shows no evidence for any serious systematic effects. The value of speckle interferometry to binary-star astrometry is concluded to be very high.
