Celestial Mechanics, Stellar Dynamics, Planets And Satellites: General
Scientific paper
In the present paper we examine the influence of encounters of the major planets with random massive objects from the interstellar medium. We pay special attention to far encounters (i.e. those with large impact parameters) and despite adiabatic invariance we demonstrate that important secular effects are introduced along the solar system age in the dynamical evolution of the outer planets.
