We apply the saturated Compton model to the observational data of GB990123. We show that this model gives excellent fits to the broadband time-resolved spectra of this GRB, from optical to gamma-rays. The source parameters extracted from the spectral fits are then used to project the subsequent evolution of the afterglow, using the standard Blandford-McKee solutions. We find that the results are generally consistent with the afterglow data.
