Formulas are derived describing the behavior of an axisymmetric spacecraft reentering the earth's atmosphere. Motion near the center of mass of the body is considered for two segments of the reentry trajectory: (1) a 'boundary' segment where aerodynamic damping may be neglected and (2) a segment where the effects of such damping are considerable. Analytical relationships are obtained for maximum angle of attack.
