Some preliminary results are presented for a balloon flight aimed at observations of the diffuse far-infrared galactic emission (two wavelength channels) between 26 and 40 deg galactic longitudes. The observed color temperature is about 25 K. The total brightness is comparable to the value observed by the airborne instrument described by Viallefond et al. (1978). The most noticeable feature in the longitude profile is a broad maximum (larger than the beam size of 0.5 deg of arc at 30 deg longitude) where several other galactic emissions display a peak (gamma rays, recombination lines, 2.4 -micron from massive red giants, H II regions).
