We consider the luminosity function and the distribution of stars in the color-magnitude diagram for Praesepe. The luminosity function is consistent with the solar neighborhood function but is not sufficiently complete at faint magnitudes to constrain binary system properties. The color-magnitude data are consistent with a large binary population. Systems with B - V in the range 1.0 to 0.8 seem to favor uncorrelated masses while bluer systems tend toward equal masses. Redder than B - V of about 1.0, the data are not good enough to analyze the effects of binary stars.
