The nearby (~200pc) R Aqr symbiotic system, a known EXOSAT/ROSAT source, is a well-known prototype for non-relativistic astrophysical jets, giving a unique AXAF opportunity to resolve spatially an x-ray system with mass infall onto a compact hot object with an accretion disk and jet. The R Aqr jet has been extensively observed in the UV, optical, and radio by Hollis et al. Previous ROSAT HRI observations could not resolve the jet, but, based on HST UV and VLA radio data, shock model temperatures indicate that an x-ray jet is about the same size as the UV jet. This AXAF observation will yield ~4000 counts, enough for a high quality image. Using the ACIS BI spectrum, optically thin hot gas lines will be evident; time variations and source modeling will also be pursued.
