Optimal expressions for brightness variations of Comet Giacobini-Zinner during 1900-1972 are obtained through mathematical simulation and dimensional analysis. These expressions made it possible to determine the absolute brightness (H0) of the comet. The seeing conditions are shown to have a significant influence on values of H0. Mathematical models are developed for the dependence of H0 on seeing conditions, phase angle, the level of solar activity, and time.
