A sequence of beachrocks, composed of alternately laminated fragmented shells and quartz sands, is found in the Mediterranean coastal cliff at Tel Haraz up to an elevation of +28 m. Various criteria, such as sedimentary structures and textures, as well as mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the cement, indicate that these rocks were deposited in marine environments. Radiocarbon dates on imbricated shells suggest that this sequence is younger than 3500 yr B.P. It is suggested that prior, during and after the deposition of this sequence the nearby coastal zone went through a cycle of intensive oscillatory (down and up) tectonic movement.
