The interaction of the main mode of a spiral-wave packet with its close
neighbours in a self-gravitating gaseous disk is considered. Criteria of
instability are obtained. The characteristic timescale of instability
for the Galaxy is of the order of the time of the Galaxy's rotation
around its axis.
