Deep and high-resolution optical images taken through interference filters of the site of SN 1961v in the Sc galaxy NGC 1058 are presented. These images reveal the presence of two apparent H II regions near the location observed for the supernova which coincide with the two radio sources recently detected by Branch and Cowan. A faint emission knot in one H II region lies precisely at the supernova's observed position. Previously reported late time magnitude estimates and development of a nebulous appearance for this supernova are probably inaccurate due to the presence of these H II regions. Implications for the supernova's precursor and its similarity to other supernovae are briefly discussed.
