Over a decade of intensive observations, including an IR sky survey by the IRAS spacecraft, has yielded no indication of the conjectured 'Planet X'. Proponents of the planet's existence remain intent on further searches, however, in view of the the fact that even the best current dynamical models of the solar system are unable to predict the positions of the outer planets more than a decade into the future. Several critics of Planet X argue that random errors in observational data can degrade the results obtainable for the positions of Uranus and Neptune with sufficient severity to account for the apparent influence of Planet X.
