The study of celestial bodies including comets, meteors, and asteroids is reviewed with attention given to the relationships between the near-earth objects. The origins and orbits of asteroids are described, and many asteroids are thought to be dormant comets or are associated with meteor streams. Near-earth objects hold the potential to reveal the links between meteorites, comets, and main-belt asteroids as well as provide information relevant to the formation of the solar system.
