BV CCD photometry for eleven RR Lyrae variables in the globular cluster M 5 (NGC 5904) is presented. New ephemerides are computed, and V, B, and (B-V) light curves are given. A color-magnitude diagram based on two V and two B short-exposure frames is given, which reaches from the tip of the giant branch to below the main-sequence turnoff. The RRab and RRc variables overlap in mean (B-V) colors, but not in effective temperatures computed using periods, blue amplitudes, and the metallicity of the clusters. This supports a previous claim about the unsuitability of mean (B-V) values to estimate mean or equilibrium temperatures for RR Lyrae stars.
