Tests were carried out on multidielectric stacks of PbF2 - MgF2 thin films with a view to applying these in an ultraviolet camera for stellar spectral analysis. Selective mirrors for the near ultraviolet were realized using these coatings, and tested. Aging tests proved to be not entirely satisfactory. Interference filters were also realized and tested for Mg II beam detection (2802 angstrom) for use in a balloon. A blocking was noted, however, for visible light, possibly due to the MgF2. It is concluded that such filters with predetermined characteristics cannot be realized based on PbF2 and MgF2.
