We present an analysis of the simultaneous RXTE and optical observations of several outbursts of SS Cygni taken between 1999 and 2001. Those data show a remarkable evolution of the spectrum correlated with X-ray and optical flux, and generally confirm the previously reported depression of hard X-rays during the optical outburst. We measure the time lags between the outbursts in optical and X-ray, and the time scales of the hard X-ray spectral transitions in the recovery from outburst. We discuss the observational results in the framework of the theoretical models of the accretion flow in dwarf novae systems.
