Study of a hypothetical sample of identical double galaxies with circular orbits and randomly distributed relative-velocity and separation vectors indicates that the empirical virial mass and velocity-dispersion relations for double galaxies are almost certainly caused by projection effects. Dynamic properties of loose groups of galaxies and spectroscopic double stars are discussed.
