It is shown that transition radiation, which is produced as a result of electrodynamic interactions between fast electrons and dust particles, may explain the excess luminosity and other unusual characteristics of peculiar galactic nebulae, which include Herbig-Haro objects, cometary nebulae, B10 nebulae, T. Tauri stars, and FU Orionis stars. The basic characteristics of peculiar nebulae are described, the theory of transition radiation is outlined, and necessary relationships for determining the energetic and physical parameters of the peculiar objects are introduced. The spectral distribution of transition radiation is computed, and it is found that the energy of the fast electrons is probably of the order of 1.5 MeV. Excitation of emission lines in the spectra of peculiar nebulae is examined, and theoretical B - V and U - B color indices are determined for transition radiation. Application of the present theory to Fu Ori stars is discussed.
