The formulation of the problem of plasma ejection from the magnetosphere of an axisymmetric rotator is considered in relation to physical conditions. The conditions governing matter flux and the toroidal magnetic field are determined. In the case of a hot plasma and weak magnetic field, these values are determined by the condition of the transition of the plasma velocity through the fast and slow magnetoacoustic wave propagation velocities. Solar wind is an example of such a flow. In the case of a strong field and a cold plasma, such as in pulsars, the matter flux and toroidal magnetic field are determined by the processes which generate the plasma.
