The contribution of open heavy flavor to the single muon spectrum is of interest to experimentors at the Tevetron, RHIC, and LHC for several reasons. Semi-leptonic decay from open heavy flavor can be a useful tool for analysis of the structure constants in the RHIC polarized proton-proton program. It can also be used in the study of A-dependent gluon shadowing effects in either proton-proton or proton-nucleus collisions. Finally, the contribution to the spectrum can be used to help understand the background in the low mass di-muon spectrum for the FNAL E866/NuSeA experiment. FNAL E866/NuSeA is presently analyzing data specifically for the purpose of finding this open heavy flavor contribution. An overview of the experiment and preliminary results will be presented.
