Various scenarios for formation of a planet around a neutron star, as observed in PSR 1829 - 10 are considered. It is shown that matter, ablated from a companion 1.5 solar mass star which was orbiting around the neutron star progenitor at a distance of about 3 x 10 exp 12 cm, would be captured by the neutron star and form a disk around it. The companion star escaped from the system during the supernova event, and the observed planet was eventually formed from this disk.
