The ALICE Experiment at the LHC was optimized to explore the physics of Quark-Gluon Plasma in heavy ion collisions at sqrt(sNN)=5.5 TeV. Whereas the soft hadronic observables are expected to be similar to what is currently observed at RHIC, most theoretical calculations show a significant enhancement in the hard physics observables at the LHC compared to RHIC. The ALICE-USA Collaboration has proposed the addition of a large area electromagnetic calorimeter to the ALICE detector, to extend the capabilities of ALICE for high pT physics. Specific physics goals, such as jet fragmentation and energy loss, direct photon production, and Z,W, J/Psi and Upsilon family measurements will be discussed.
