PHENIX has collected more than 170 million Au-Au events at sqrt(s) = 200 GeV/c. During the same data taking period a substantial set of proton-proton data at the same energy has also been written. Using these high statistics data samples, combined with the good momentum resolution of the central arm detectors, the charged particle invariant momentum distribution is measured over a wide pt range at mid-rapidity. The analysis of the centrality dependence of the Au-Au spectra as well as the comparison of the results to the proton-proton data at the same energy and to Au-Au at lower sqrt(s)= 130GeV/c will be shown.
