A study of the CaII K line spectra of eight flares observed with the Solar Tower Telescope at Nanjing University is presented. It is seen that the red asymmetry is common to all flares and is most obvious near the maximum of the K line intensity. By employing the non-LTE theory when calculating the CaII K line profiles, it is shown that the asymmetry may be explained by the movement of material around the temperature minimum region.
