Generalized parton distributions are new hadronic observables which have the combined properties of the elastic form factors and Feynman parton distributions. They contain rich new information about the quark and gluons substructure of the protons and neutrons. In this talk, I will highlight some simple aspects of the new distributions and review some of the recent progress in the field.
