Spectrograms of high spectral and spatial resolution of the extremely young planetary nebula Vy 2-2 are presented. The Forbidden N II emission line features resolved in the spectra show that Vy 2-2 is a bipolar planetary nebula consisting of a compact (0.35-arcsec), very slowly expanding (6 km/s) central region and two rather wide bipolar features expanding above 15 km/s. The ionized inner nebula is embedded in an extended halo (25-arcsec radius or greater) detected through its weak H-alpha emission. The results are interpreted taking into account properties of the central star of Vy 2-2 and of type II OH/IR objects from the literature. Comparison with other objects shows that bipolar outflows are rather common in young planetary nebulae. This may be the result of anisotropic mass loss in type II OH/IR objects.
