This experiment measures beam spin asymmetries in p( e,e'p)π^o in the Δ(1232) region for Q^2=0.3 - 0.9 (GeV)^2. Single pion electroproduction in the the Δ(1232) resonance region has been studied as a means of exploring the physics underlying the structure of the nucleon. Most previous measurements have focused on unpolarized cross section measurements in this resonance region. A new experiment using CLAS at Jefferson Lab/Hall B has measured beam spin asymmetries over a large kinematic range. The high statistical accuracy of this data set provides new and unique information on the non-resonant amplitudes such as Born terms and contributions from higher resonances by utilizing the interference between large resonant and small non-resonant amplitudes. This information is not available from unpolarized cross section measurements. Preliminary results of a partial wave analysis will be presented as well.
