Recently, a sub-class of fast X-ray transients, known as the X-ray flashes, is identified. These objects resemble the normal gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) on many aspects and very likely to be close relatives of GRBs. We analyze various cosmological fireball model variants within a unified framework, and evaluate the Ep predictions in these models. The possible nature of the X-ray flashes is discussed.
