A ground-based network of gravitational-wave antennae, based in North America (LIGO), Europe (Virgo and GEO), and Japan (TAMA) is rapidly coming into operation. It is expected that this network will be upgraded and improve in sensitivity over the course of the next decade, at which point it will be joined by the space-based antenna LISA, a joint NASA-ESA mission. In this talk, I will review the capabilities of this network and the astrophysical sources that are their primary targets. I will also discuss what physics and astrophysics we can expect to learn when gravitational-wave measurement becomes routine.
