In recent years we have witnessed a revolution in neutrino physics and astrophysics. Future generation solar neutrino experiments, operating in a dedicated and deep underground laboratory, will provide a necessary ingredient in efforts to define the neutrino mass and mixing parameters and to extend the search for new physics beyond the standard model. The scientific case for future solar neutrino experiments will be presented in light of what we have learned from past and present generation neutrino experiments. The scientific goals and capabilities of next generation experiments will be discussed in light of what we would like to learn in the future.
