The state of cosmology in the aftermath of the COBE detection of unevenness in the background radiation is discussed. Leading cosmologists are quoted as saying that the COBE discovery merely added another brick to the secure foundation of the Big Bang theory. Whether the seeds of universal structure came from inflation or another process remains as open question. The appropriateness of linking cosmology to religious questions is addressed.
