The machine-readable version of the catalog, as it is currently being
distributed from the Astronomical Data Center, is described. The catalog
is a compilation of data and information for optical quasi-stellar and
BL Lacertae objects and is an updated version of the third edition of
the compilation prepared and published by the same authors in 1987.
