A computer program has been developed for calculating the refraction of
a fast extraordinary mode in the inner magnetosphere of Jupiter. The
calculations show that, if the realistic plasma model is used, the
refraction may explain the observed geometric S-radiation pattern and
its variations with Io longitude and frequency.
