The number of triple and even more complex stellar systems to be found among spectroscopic binaries with known orbits is estimated. About 20 percent of binaries are at least triple. Some 15 percent of the triples are quadruple. Some more complex systems are known, but their numbers are too few for general conclusions to be drawn about the frequency of such systems - except that it must be low.
