Polar Motion: Palaeomagnetism
Scientific paper
Approximately 85 paleomagnetic poles pertaining to the Devonian period, which independently of estimates of their reliability have been used to construct the most probable trajectory of the paleopoles, are known for North America. The poles are divided into three distinct geological regions: the North American platform - 16 poles; the Andean coast of the paleo-ocean (Iapetus), the ancient continental margin of the east of North America (NEACM) - 43 poles; and the individual microcontinents-terrains, Avalon and Meguma (MKAM) - 25 poles.
