Solar Cosmic Rays: Particles, Solar Cosmic Rays: Energy Spectra
Scientific paper
Energy spectra near the Sun and temporal profiles of the ejection of relativistic protons are reconstructed for the events of December 8, 1982, and November 19, 1949, by the method of numerical solution of the inverse problem of propagation of solar cosmic rays. The spectrum for the December 8, 1982, event displays a tendency to compaction in the low-energy region. Comparison of the temporal ejection profiles for all three events (including the flare of February 23, 1956) indicates a delay of the accelerated particles in the solar corona. The delay for high-energy protons amounts from minutes to tens of minutes, which is in agreement with the model of temporal retention of particles in a magnetic bottle.
