The star formation properties are analyzed for a sample of interacting galaxies based on long-slit optical spectroscopy observations, and the results are reported. A high frequency of LINERs is detected among the sample galaxies, many of which show only low-level activity and are not associated with high infrared flux LINERs. Their global star-formation rates are higher than for field galaxies in most of the systems. The star-formation activity is mainly concentrated toward the central parts of the strongly interacting galaxies. Extended emission can appear in galaxies of very spectral type when the activity level is very high, but it is not a general feature. The star formation in a galaxy in every generation of its 'ecologic cycle' of molecular cloud and star formation is found to be essentially produced with the same spatial distribution.
