Cosmology: Inflationary Universe, Cosmological Constant
Scientific paper
In the framework of the classical field theory, homogeneous and isotropic cosmological models are considered the 3-spaces of which are flat. The source of the gravitational field is a Higgs-type scalar field with nonminimal coupling to the gravitational field. The effective cosmological constant of the degenerated ground state compensates an a priori cosmological constant. The investigation concentrates mainly on negative values for the constant b of the nonminimal coupling. Models with a superinflationary and an inflationary stage exist for large -b. For sufficiently small -b only an inflationary stage during a time interval long enough is possible.
