Calculations are presented for the evolution of massive close binaries with initial periods larger than 3 days, including the effect of convective core overshooting during core H burning (Maeder and Meynet, 1987). The evolution of the mass gainer during the Roche lobe overflow phase of the mass loser is examined. The results are compared with observations of WR + OB binaries, suggesting that mass transfer during the Roche lobe overflow phase of the mass loser plays a fundamental role in binary formation.
