Spectra of high resolution showed the presence of an early-type (≍B2) and a late-type (≍K2) component in the B[e] star MWC623. From absorption-line strengths a lower limit of the luminosity class for the K star of LC II was derived assuming the B star to be a main-sequence object. The very strong line of LiIλ6708 suggests that the system is not old enough to have nearly all lithium diluted in the K component as observed in most K giants.
