The triple radio source located towards the center of the supernova remnant G 179.0 + 2.7 was observed at 1.49 and 4.86 GHz with high angular resolution with the VLA. The source is identified as a double-sided radio galaxy unrelated to the supernova remnant. Optical observations with a 3.5-m telescope reveal the associated elliptical galaxy of magnitude 17 + or - 1 mag at a distance of 180 Mpc (H0) = 50 km/s Mpc).
