The carbon departure coefficients bn and betan are calculated for typical conditions of molecular clouds. Radiationless electron capture with simultaneous excitation of the fine structure of the core and the collisional stabilization of the highly excited levels that are formed were taken into account. The relative population of the fine structure levels of the core is calculated from the medium's parameters.
