Hard X-ray emission from clusters of galaxies is a powerful probe of the intercluster medium (ICM, for short) in general, and of the non-thermal particle population, in particular. When combined with the thermal soft X-ray and radio observations, it can provide valuable information on the magnetic field structure, the origin and the mechanism for acceleration of electrons, and the relation between these and the hot ICM gas. Understanding of these characteristics of the ICM in turn can shed light on the process of cluster formation. RXTE, at present the only operational satellite with the hard X-ray bandpass allowing the study of this emission, observed the cluster RX J0658.4-5557 for approximately 400 ks. The observation of this hot (kT ˜ 15 keV) cluster with a well defined radio emission was conducted successfully, and the source is clearly detected in both the PCA and HEXTE detectors. We report on the details of the spectrum inferred from the RXTE data, analyzed together with the X-ray and radio archival data obtained by other instruments. The results from this relatively hot and high redshift cluster will be compared with those from other cluster previously detected at hard X-rays and radio wavelengths.
