Observations of minor planet 433 (Eros) show that its visual brightness varies by as much as 1.5 magnitudes as it rotates on its axis with a period of about 5 hr 16 min. On Jan. 23, 1975, the 3.6-magnitude star Kappa Geminorum was occulted by Eros. Observers in Massachusetts and Connecticut reported that the occultation lasted up to 4 sec at about 0:20-0:22 UT.
